happy 70th anniversary of victory day and the end of ww2! take this day to remember the nearly 30 million soviet citizens who were killed during the war, 13.7 million of which were civilians, during the implementation of nazi germany’s generalplan ost (which was a planned genocide and ethnic cleansing of most slavic peoples in europe, whom the nazis saw as sub-human and non-aryan). not a single family in the soviet union/russia was left untouched by this war, and today 350,000 people are marching in moscow with photos of their deceased relatives, forming the “бессмертный полк” – immortal regiment. and around 8 million people are participating in victory day celebrations all over moscow right now! again, happy victory day ♡
